How to Plan for Your Perfect Wedding Day

Local business owner Emma Francis of Emma Francis Wedding and Events introduces herself and gives us a timeline for planning the ultimate wedding day.

Grab a cup of tea, maybe even a chocolate biscuit, come on in and let me introduce myself.

Emma Francis

Hi, I’m Emma, owner of Emma Francis Wedding and Events. I have the absolute pleasure of planning amazing weddings and parties in the Hampshire area…I know it’s the dream job, right?

I pride myself on offering tailored, stress-free, meticulous planning to every event I am involved in. The best part of my job is seeing my clients’ faces and their guests’ reactions when walking into their event for the first time; nothing can beat seeing someone’s dreams turn into reality before their eyes!

Some of the things I can help you with when planning an event especially your wedding is providing you with a timeline. This is an amazing tool to keep you organised and on track of everything that needs to be done.

A basic timeline should be put into timed groups like this:

12-18 Months – Big important things need to be booked at this stage. The venue, photographer, DJ or band and florist.

9-12 Months – This is the time to send out save the dates, start wedding dress shopping and book your honeymoon.

6-9 Months – This is when you should start to think about having a trial for your hair and make up, bridesmaids dresses and hiring the suits for the men.

3-6 Months – Send out your formal invitations, buy your wedding bands and run through your order of service with the vicar or registrar.

0-3 Months – Have your final dress fitting and start wearing in your shoes before the big day. Also think about any gifts you may want to buy for your bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Two Weeks – Make sure at this stage you confirm the final timings with all your suppliers and pay the final balances.

Final Week – Last minute jobs such as collecting the suits, and your wedding dress; making sure when you go to collect it that you take a bed sheet to store it in, to avoid household smells. Have a manicure and a pedicure to relax and make sure you get enough beauty sleep.

This timeline is a very rough guide of the main things to think about along the way when you are planning for the big day. For a full timeline please see my website where you will find a step by step wedding checklist.

Outside of work and when I am not planning weddings and parties I love to spend time with my friends and family. Especially taking my puppy for long walks around the gorgeous Winchester countryside; usually involving a pub stop or two!

To get to know me a little bit better here are 5 facts to start of with:

Emma Francis
  1. My birthday is Christmas Day
  2. My husband and I met in Bryon Bay, Australia whilst we were both travelling
  3. We have a cockapoo called Reggie, who has just turned one and loves cuddles
  4. I am a huge foodie
  5. I absolutely love a fun, sweaty spin class!

With my birthday (unluckily) falling on Christmas Day, the festive season is extra special and exciting for me. Once we have all watched the fireworks on bonfire night, Christmas songs are being played around the house and the decorations are being put up soon after! My family are not quite as enthusiastic about it all, but I think they have learned to put up with me!

As well as being a wedding and event planner, I am also a qualified beauty therapist and fitness instructor…I know jack of all trades!

I have been in the beauty industry for almost 10 years working within spas and salons in Winchester and it is still a massive part of my life. Becoming a fitness instructor is a fairly recent venture of mine but I have always been very physically active myself and I am extremely passionate about helping people lead a healthy and active lifestyle.

I feel that combining all these things with Emma Francis Wedding and Events means I can offer my clients more than just planning services, I can be an all-round support in the lead up to any wedding or event. Whether that may be staying in shape ahead of the big day or the all-important manicure for you and your bridal party, I am more than happy to help!

Please feel free to take a look at my website and drop me a message and we can meet for cuppa in person to discuss your wedding or event plans; and create something special together.

With love, Emma x
