Russian-born Serguei Bogatchev spent more than twenty years working as a chauffeur for private clients and families in London and the south east. He explains why he chose Winchester to set up his business: Red Bear Chauffeur Services.

“Everyone leads busy lives: my clients have meetings to attend, flights to catch, social engagements and shopping trips, so it’s vital that a chauffeur is reliable. Time-keeping is also critical. It’s important to be punctual so you can take clients to their chosen destination unhurried, unflustered and on time. The role of a chauffeur is to make transportation effortless so clients can concentrate on their day. They also need to be able to trust you; after all, you’re driving them and (often) their loved ones around, so they must feel confident in your ability to get them from A to B safely.

“Discretion is another key trait, remaining respectful of clients’ privacy and offering a quiet, friendly and courteous service at all times. A large part of a chauffeur’s day can be spent waiting, so you need to be patient, yet always on alert, in case the client requires an unplanned schedule change. Clients’ plans can change at a moment’s notice, so it helps to be flexible, ready to change the route accordingly and reach the destination in the most expedient way possible.”
