Take the Starlit Walk through Winchester on 2nd October to support Wessex Cancer Trust

Wessex Cancer Trust is once again lighting up Winchester in support of local families as the Starlit Trail returns on Friday 2nd October.

This 5km walk through an illuminated Winchester is designed to raise awareness and funds for people living with cancer. Last year saw 200 people walking in support of the event and raising £15,000.

This year, social distancing rules will be observed in-line with the recent “rule of six” guidance
(find out how the event will be kept safe here).

Get involved
Tickets for the event are just £15 for adults and £10 for children, with each person asked to meet a sponsorship goal of £100.  Entertainment and treats provided at key stages of the walk and each participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

“There was such a lovely atmosphere at our first Starlit Trail last year and it was an evening full of positivity. After everything we’ve all been through this year we’re excited to see it return as a physical event  – we think it’s something people really need at the moment and walking is great exercise,” says Catherine Lawry, Wessex Cancer Trust’s events fundraiser.

Local support
A number of local businesses are backing the event, including lead sponsor Trethowans LLP, T-shirt sponsor Brewin Dolphin and start-finish line sponsors ONLE Networking

ONLE, which runs business networking events across the country, is based and was launched in Winchester in 2018.  For co-founder Kelly West, getting involved with the Starlit Trial is a privilege. “Like so many people, we’ve personally been affected by cancer and so we were keen to help Wessex Cancer Trust continue its vital work. Winchester is our spiritual home: it’s where we started ONLE Networking and so we’re looking forward to taking part in this moonlit event in this wonderful city,” says Kelly.
